Heartwood College of Art has launched a $100,000 Capital Campaign called "Growing Heartwood."

The college has been offered a matching grant of $50,000 to fund expansion of its Admissions Department and grow enrollment - a vital step in its bid for NASAD accreditation.  A generous donor believes that Heartwood College of Art deserves support, and now it is up to Heartwood to meet that challenge by raising $50,000 of matching scholarship funds from the community.   We need your help if we are to receive the funding that will enable us to grow toward our ultimate goal of accreditation.

In 2003, the State of Maine Department of Education licensed Heartwood to offer the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree.   Since then, word has spread about Heartwood’s exciting BFA program, exceptional faculty, ideal location and reasonable tuition, and we have received a growing number of inquiries from prospective students, making it clear that Heartwood College is an important alternative for many art students, especially those from rural areas in Maine and New Hampshire.   Sadly, many of those who would apply to Heartwood cannot afford to attend the college.  While we offer small scholarships to incoming freshmen, as well as to our presently enrolled students, our scholarship funds are not sufficient to allow us to offer the substantial support many of these students need.  Accreditation not only signifies a quality education in the Visual Arts, but it also enables our students to obtain loans to help pay for their education at Heartwood.   Until we have access to the loan programs that are available to accredited colleges, it is vital that we grow Heartwood’s scholarship funds to make certain that our students, and prospective students, can study art at Heartwood College.

We are asking for your support as we reach for the goal of securing $50,000 before the end of the year. That level of funding will allow us to grow student enrollment and accept our generous benefactor’s matching grant.  It will also insure that we can offer our students a helping hand over the next two years, until student loans are available to them.  Later this fall, as you drive down Route 1, you will see a huge paintbrush posted in front of the College, marking the progress of our matching grant campaign.  Let’s fill in the paintbrush together!

Please make a tax-deductible donation to Heartwood College of Art today, and help us to fulfill our mission of “educating and inspiring our students and evoking a passion for the visual arts.”  Thank you for your consideration!

Sincerely
