GLASS BEADS Jennifer Fields

glass and fuel)
Using century old techniques of lampworking, create a variety of glass beads
using a minor burner torch and soft "moretti" glass rods. Make basic
bead shapes, decorate your beads with dots, sringers, twisted canes, foils and
enamel powders.

course is a basic introduction to traditional watercolor techniques
including clean wash, wet on wet and dry brush with an emphasis on
light and color. Students will explore the unique attributes of
watercolor, including such tools of the trade as special papers,
brushes and pigments.

PASTEL

Pastel
is a spontaneous medium which offers the immediacy of drawing combined
with the richness of color painting. Soft pastel (sticks of pure
pigment) afford an ease of color blending. Different papers and pastel
grades will be explored as well as basic composition and color theory.

An introduction to
the basic techniques of throwing on the wheel, tooling and form
design. Work in stoneware; learn glaze techniques and fire to cone 10.
Studio fee: includes 20 lbs. of clay.

Intermediate watercolor studies. This class will include further
experience in color harmony, its theory and practice as well as an
exploration of various subject matter including still life, floral and
landscape.
This is an “Introduction to Painting” class with basic drawing taught
in the beginning as a development tool. Color mixing, composition and
careful observation will be emphasized. Nurture self-analysis and
critical thinking while learning to cultivate your personal vision.
CERAMICS: RAKU

Raku, a Japanese firing
technique translates as “beauty by chance.” Clay is fired to 1900
degrees and removed from an outdoor kiln at full temperature. The
ceramic piece is buried in a can of sawdust to reduce the chamber of
oxygen, creating copper lusters, turquoise blues, crackling and
iridescent glaze effects. This intensive class will culminate with a
dramatic raku firing.
